Benefit Golf Tournament :
The 1ST Annual Warriors Football/Coach John Bell
Memorial Golf Outing is coming up on July 24th, 2006. The event will be held
at the Orange County Golf Club with the proceeds to benefit the Minisink
Valley Warrior Football Program and the newly created John Bell Memorial
Scholarship Award.
"We wanted to give something back to a man that
has meant a tremendous amount to all of us here at Minisink Valley." said new
Minisink Valley Head Football Coach Kevin Gallagher.
"Coach Bell reached out and touched so many lives while a teacher and coach at
Minisink Valley that something had to be done and this is our contribution."
continued Gallagher.
"Our goal is to make a minimum of $2500.00 this year," said Gallagher, "we
want this to be a real success."
The golf tournament will follow the four man scramble format and the entry fee
is $200.00 per person.
The entry fee includes the golfing along with cart, a gift bag, 'Hole in One'
contest, 'Closest to the Pin' contest, 'Longest Drive' contest, a buffet
dinner and prizes. If there is a winner in the 'Hole in One' contest the
winner will receive a new car.
The days schedule is as follows,
12:00 - 12:30pm: Registration (putting green will be open.)
1:00pm: Shotgun start
6:00pm: Golfers hour
7:00pm: Dinner, buffet style
8:00pm: Awards ceremony
The deadline for registering for the event is July
14th.

7-on-7 Practice at Carmel HS:
The Minisink Valley Warrior Football Team got
their first taste of action last weekend as they took part in a
'7 on 7'
practice at Carmel HS in Carmel, NY.
"It was a great day for us." said new Head Coach Kevin Gallagher, "I am very
pleased with our guys and they way they played today"
Gallagher sent two teams onto the field with both
participating in the varsity division.
"Our first team was made up of seniors and juniors while our second squad
consisted of sophomores and freshmen." said Gallagher.
"Our first team finished the day with a record of 7-0 while our second team
went 6-1." said Gallagher.
"We took 43 kids to this thing and they really did a great job. The kids
pulled together and played very well as a team." said Gallagher.
"We drove over there, played well and then drove
home and the parents treated us to a real nice barbecue for our efforts." said
Gallagher.
"I am really excited about the upcoming season. I think we have a great group
of guys who are going to do very, very well." continued Coach Gallagher.
Minisink Valley also had three teams participate in the 'Lineman's Challenge'.
Minisink's top team finished in third place behind Newburgh and Poughkeepsie
while the second Warrior team finished in tenth place and the third Warrior
squad finished in fifteenth place.
The lineman's challenge is a combination of six events including the
following,
Five man sled drive for time
Farmer's walk: carry an 80 pound dumbbell 25
yards against the clock
Tractor tire flip: flip a
tractor tire ten times
against the clock
Tug of War
QB sack obstacle course
Shiver ball: push a weighted ball (30lbs) around a course against the
clock
