              Warriors clobber Wizards 35-0

Washingtonville Wizards 0 0 0 0 0
Minisink Valley Warriors 7 21 7 0 35

The Minisink Valley Warriors opened their 2007 Section IX Class AA Division II season with a 35-0 rout over the Washingtonville Wizards Friday night to remain unbeaten and untied at 3-0.
The Warriors exerted their dominance early driving the length of the field on their opening drive. The drive was stalled however when Warrior QB Nick Iannuzzi didn't connect with runningback HR Rotolo on a QB option play. The Wizards recovered the errant pitch.
The Minisink Valley defense gave up ZERO yards on the ensuing Washingtonville possession and the Wizards were forced to punt from their own endzone.
Minisink's outside linebacking duo of Jesse Vavricka and James Brain, known as 'The Outlaws', made Washingtonville pay for falling on the loose ball sacking Wizards QB Chris Paolini twice on the possession.
Brain would finish the game with a team high 10 tackles while Vavricka finished with 5.
The Warriors would put the ball over the goal line on their next drive thanks mostly to the efforts of HR Rotolo. After an 18 yard punt return Rotolo would pick up 21 yards up the gut and then score from six yards out for the first of his two TD's on the night.
The Warriors exploded for 21 points in the second quarter as James Ferrier scored a pair of touchdowns and Iannuzzi put one in on a QB sneak.
Ferrier's first score came on a 36 yard gallop and his second was three times shorter, a 12 yard dash.
Ferrier's two scores give him six on the season.
The Iannuzzi sneak made the score 28-0 at the half.
Minisink outgained the Wizards by nearly 200 total yards in the half. Washingtonville gained 42 total yards in the first half while the Warriors had 241, 56 through the air and 185 rushing.
Rotolo scored his second of the night and fourth of the season early in the third quarter on a 15 yard run before the Warriors began substituting freely to finish the game.
Rotolo finished the game with 118 yards on the ground on 14 carries while Ferrier had 77 yards rushing on 8 totes.
Iannuzzi finished with 56 yards on the ground carrying 9 times while completing 2-5 for 51 yards. Both completions were to Jesse Vavricka.
Nigel Simms saw alot of action in the second half rushing for 44 yards on 7 carries.
Warrior place kicker Russell Aldave remained perfect on PAT's hitting 5 of 5. Aldave is now 11 for 11 on the season.
